Getting open using the V-cut
Matt Danowski: V Cut for Space
If you’ve played a season of lacrosse, chances are you’ve heard of the “V-cut”. The V-cut is a move you can use to get open for a pass. To use a V-cut to get open, run towards your defender to try and make him think you are cutting through the middle of the field. As you get close to your defender, abruptly stop and run back towards where you started. This should put some room between you and your defender, freeing you for a pass. If the traditional V-cut isn’t leaving you open enough to receive the ball, try stepping on your opponent’s foot during your V-cut and give him a slight shove with your elbow. This will knock him off balance and will leave you wide open.
