Catch and release
Practice catching and releasing without taking more than a half cradle while the ball is in your stick. On the field, coaches often refer to this as "getting the ball in-and-out of the stick". Being able to quickly catch and re-direct the ball is a vital component for any offensive player. The skill will help you take advantage of offensive opportunities that would otherwise not be available. Take the skill one step further and practice quickly catching and shooting the ball using only a half cradle. Quickly catching and shooting the ball will help you score even if the shot isn't particularly fast or accurate, since the goalie will have little time to find the ball as it moves from player-to-player and then in-and-out of your stick as you shoot, meaning even poor shots can have a good chance of going in the goal.
