Suck them away from the goal

The more space you can create on offense, the better. Offensively, you want to draw your defenders as far away from the goal as possible. This makes it difficult for the defense to slide and recover, and will make it easier to pass and feed the ball into the middle of the field. Defensively, you want to try to stay as tightly packed to the goal as possible while making it as difficult on the opponent as possible. Staying tight to the goal will force the offense to take long-range shots and will make it hard for them to feed the middle of the field.
